About this lot
Stunning 70s vintage fat lava tile or tile trivet. Organic abstract design in brown, ochre and green. Slightly embossed, fat lava style . This tile was never used, excellent vintage condition.
The color combination and design is a beautiful mid century example.
The tile measures 20 x 20 cm , almost 8 in , the heighth is 1 cm, just under 1/2 in. It is made using red clay and a matt tipically 70s finish. We can send it with or without the 4 felt backings. It is quite heavy, about 700 grams.
What is Fat Lava?
Fat Lava is the name collectors gave to the thick, bubbly glazes of the 1960s and 70s. The glaze stands up from the tile like cooled lava, so each one catches the light a little differently. Here you will also find heavy brutalist tiles with deep texture and marbled glazes.
